General Venue Information

What types of weddings do you accommodate?
  • We host a variety of weddings including civil ceremonies, receptions, religious ceremonies, and vow renewals.
Are you licensed for civil ceremonies?
  • Yes, we are licensed to host civil ceremonies on-site. We can also accommodate celebrant-led and non-traditional ceremonies.
What is your venue capacity?
  • We can host up to 200 guests for seated dinners, and up to 300 for standing receptions or evening parties.
Do you offer exclusive use of the venue?
  • Yes, our packages typically include exclusive use of the venue and grounds for your wedding day.
 
Booking & Planning
 
How far in advance should we book?
  • We recommend booking 12–18 months in advance for peak dates for your wedding celebrations, but shorter notice bookings are welcome based on availability.
 Is a wedding coordinator included?
  • Yes, a dedicated wedding coordinator will assist with planning and will be present on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Do you offer wedding packages?
  • Yes, we offer customisable packages to suit various budgets and styles.
 
Venue Facilities

Is there accommodation on-site or nearby?
  • We do not offer on-site accommodation but can recommend local hotels and B & Bs in Laughton and the surrounding area of East Sussex.
Is the venue accessible for disabled guests?
  • Yes, the venue is wheelchair accessible, and accessible restrooms are available.
What parking facilities do you provide?
  • We have ample free on-site parking for guests and vendors.
Are pets allowed at the venue?
  • Yes, pets are welcome to be part of your ceremony or photos—please discuss arrangements with us in advance.

Catering & Bar
 
Do you provide in-house catering?
  • No we do not provide in house catering but we do have a list of recommended caterers on our website.
Can we bring in our own caterers?
  • External caterers are permitted with prior approval. They must meet our health and safety requirements and must have the relevant insurance.
Do you offer bar services?
  • Yes, we provide a full bar service, offering welcome drinks, table wine and toasting drinks as well as a very well stocked bar and bar staff.  
 
Décor & Styling
 
Can we decorate the venue ourselves?
  • Absolutely. You’re free to decorate the marquee space for your wedding to reflect your style. We also work with trusted event decorators if you’d like professional help.
When can we access the venue for setup?
  • Exact timings will be confirmed during your planning process. Whilst we cannot guarantee the day before we will allow for decorators to come in as early as possible on the day.
 
Entertainment & Sound


Can we have live music or a DJ?
  • Milwards does have it’s own in house DJ. We also allow live bands until 11pm and if you prefer your own DJ that is fine also.
Are there any noise restrictions?
  • We follow local noise regulations. Outdoor amplified music usually ends by 10–11PM, with indoor music allowed until 11.30PM.
 
Weather & Contingency Plans
 
What happens if it rains?
  • Our indoor spaces provide beautiful backup options for your ceremony or reception in case of bad weather.
Is outdoor heating or shade available?
  • Yes, there are shaded areas around the garden for outdoor comfort depending on the season.
 
Legal, Insurance & Contracts
 
Do we need wedding insurance?
  • While not mandatory, we highly recommend wedding insurance for your peace of mind.
What’s the payment schedule?
  • A deposit is required to secure your date, with the balance typically due 8 weeks before your wedding.
What is your cancellation policy?
  • Our cancellation terms vary depending on notice given. Full details are outlined in our booking contract.
